The following comparative information is based on the Autogyro survey that appeared in African Pilot Magazine in January 2006.

Although every attempt is made to ensure the accuracy of information, all specifications for a specific model should be confirmed with the manufacturer or distributors of the applicable aircraft.

Prices were supplied by the various participants in December 2005 and subject to currency fluctuations, and specification changes.

The ELA-08 has a larger, more comfortable cockpit than the ELA-07, while the asymmetrical design of the fuselage guarantees even better stability in the roll and yaw than the already remarkably stable 07. The robust AISI 403 stainless steel frame is fully repairable and offers a lifetime warranty. ELA South Africa also goes the extra mile in keeping stock of aircraft and parts. In just more than one year, twenty-six orders have been placed and delivered. The Sparrowhawk is one of the few side-by-side gyroplane configurations available in the market. The manufacturer, Groen Brothers Aviation (GBA) in America, is known as a world leader in gyroplane technology. The Sparrowhawk brings safe, sensible flight to the kit built market. The aircraft has centreline thrust with large horizontal stabilisers. The technology helps prevent the possibility of power push over. The M-14 is the sports model of the Magni line-up .This highly manoeuvrable gyro is very popular in Europe and comes at a very competitive price. For those that want the quality of a Magni gyro, and want tot experience the exhilaration of gyro flight, the M-14 is for you.

The M16 changed the course of gyros worldwide. It was the first fully commercial, safe, reliable, high-performance gyro available with the innovative tail that set the standard for most sport gyros today. The M16 is the mainstay of flight schools in Europe and South Africa. The single-seat configuration with the Rotax 582 engine makes this entry level gyro ideal for the first time buyer that does not have the budget for a two-seater. The M18 is manufacturered to the same exacting standards as it's bigger brothers from 4130 chrome-moly steel, the accepted aircraft standard. The legend continues, born out of Africa for Africa. This robust gyro is for the adventure seeker. After thousands of hours of flight in harsh african conditions in many M16s the M22 was born. The M22 offers the same performance as the M16, but has an additional 150 liters of baggage area.

The RAF is the only gyroplane kit that is available in Southern Africa with a proven track record. The company is based in Canada and has been building gyroplane kits for over 30 years. There are over a thousand RAF 2000s flying in twenty-five countries around the world. The kit will take the owner approximately 150 to 200 hours to complete and will not require the purchase of any special tools. This is the cruiser of gyros. This aircraft can be flown with the doors on or off, depending on pilot choice and therefore provides great versatility and comfort for long cross-country flights. The Sycamore has undergone a re-design over the last year, shaving 40 kg from the original design and allowing greater performance at high altitude. The introduction of a 33ft rotor as standard also contributes to a far greater lift co-efficient than the original. This is the open cockpit version of the popular Sycamore gyro offering the more aggressive performance whilst still keeping a firm eye on safety and great value for money. The Sycamore is locally developed and manufactured with the benefit of constant support ranging from advice to upgrades and annual inspections.
